Liam Gallagher has made it clear where he stands on the ongoing Spotify debate - having claimed to not know what the music streaming service is, in a new interview praising vinyl records.

The Beady Eye frontman was discussing vinyl vs digital with XFM, and to no one's surprise, revealed he prefers listening to his favourite albums on vinyl, declaring he has record players "coming out of my ears".

Gallagher also reminisced about the day he bought his first vinyl, confessing he had also bought drugs and a Cornish pasty on the same day. "Listening to it on vinyl is always for me. I don't even know what Spotify is. The first vinyl I ever bought, it really changed my life, got me into music was the Stone Roses album."

"I remember I bought it in Mr Sifters in Burnage. And then I bought a Greggs pasty right after it. And a big bag of weed. I know exactly what I did that day."

Spotify has been denounced by a number of musicians in the past few months, with many artists including Foals' Yannis Philipakkis, Thom Yorke, David Byrne, and Placebo's Brian Molko criticising the music streaming service for making money at artist's expense by allowing their material to be played for, mostly, free.

However, Moby waded into the debate yesterday (November 26), comparing Thom Yorke complaining about Spotify to "an old guy shouting at fast trains". Yorke was quick to respond on Twitter, saying he was a "45 year old Luddite and proud...yawn."
