Over 11,000 people have joined a Facebook page hoping to prevent James Arthur from performing on this weekend's X Factor after his recent homophobia row.
The creators of Facebook page 'Drop Homophobe James Arthur From X Factor' have called the decision to invite the 'Impossible' singer to perform on the ITV show after his homophobic slurs "a massive slap in the face to everyone who has suffered homophobic abuse in the past." They are also calling for a boycott of the show's main sponsors, Talk Talk and Domino's.
"We do not feel James Arthur deserves a place on TV following his homophobia in his music and on social media," the social network campaign adds.
Arthur has faced a huge backlash following his diss track to rapper Micky Worthless, in which he called the MC A "f**king queer" and mocked his race, comparing him to the Taliban. After former fellow X Factor contestant Lucy Spraggan criticised his actions, Arthur sent her a barrage of badly spelled, abusive texts which she then published online.
His spokesperson released a statement on Friday (November 22) claiming the singer was suffering from "acute exhaustion" and had cancelled his commitments for the next seven days.
