Lucy Spraggan has taken to Twitter to open up about her feelings towards 2012 X Factor winner James Arthur, claiming she knows he ‘isn’t a homophobe’.

The X Factor pair were embroiled in a nasty argument after it came to light that Arthur has used a homophobic slur during a rap battle that surface online.

Spraggan took issue with the slur and spoke out which led to a series of bitter text from the 2012 X Factor champion.

However, Spraggan clearly wants to put an end to the feud and returned to social media to clarify her feelings about the situation.

She wrote: “There has been a lot of discussion around my tweets to James Arthur last week and I'd like to make my views clear.

"This is a sensitive subject and I want to clarify that, whilst I know James isn't a homophobe and I didn't intend for my tweets to be read that way, I did want to confront an issue that I feel really strongly about and which is what I had hoped to highlight.

"Homophobic language has sadly become so engrained into everyday conversation and people don't realise the discriminating and devastating effect it can have.

"Stonewall are carrying out an amazing campaign at the moment about the use of language which is something I fully support and I hope everyone takes the time to look into."

Since the incident, Arthur has been diagnosed with exhaustion and was forced to cancel any commitments for seven day, but is still due to perform his new single, ‘Recovery’ on The X Factor this weekend.
