Green Day have revealed that they will take a ‘break’ after their Australian tour dates which are due to take place in February and March next year.
However, the band’s frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has reassured fans that a break is by no means the end of Green Day.
Speaking to BBC Radio 2, Armstrong said: "We're going to Australia, doing a tour there and then we're going to take a break.
“We haven't really been doing much. So it's just nice to kind of do some other things, y'know, when we get ready to do Green Day again, our batteries will be charged."

Armstrong has already had a taste of life without Green Day as he recently released his Everly Brothers tribute album with Norah Jones.
He told Sterogum: "I thought it would be cool to remake the record because I thought it was sort of an obscure thing and more people should know about it, but I really wanted to do it with a woman singing.
“I thought it would take on a different meaning, maybe broaden the meaning a little bit, as compared to hearing the songs being sung by the two brothers."
