It seems Britney Spears' latest effort Britney Jean is set to perform disappointingly - the singer's eighth record only shifted 6,400 copies on its first day of release, including preorders.
The album, which features singles 'Work Bitch' and 'Perfume', was released on November 29 to lukewarm reviews, with viewers variously describing the record as "impersonal" and "lacking spark", and now early sales figures report Britney Jean only shifted 6,400 units on its first day of release - including pre-orders.
To put these figures into perspective, if Britney Jeans shifts as many units per day for the rest of the week, her first week sales will only amount to 44,800 - paltry numbers compared to this year's other big pop albums, including Miley Cyrus' Bangerz, Lady Gaga's ARTPOP and Katy Perry's Prism, whose first week sales ranged between 258,000 and 286,000.

Spears' last record, Femme Fatale, shifted 276,000 copies on its first week of release back in 2011.
