Details of Morrissey's relationship with male photographer Jake Walters have reportedly been removed from the US edition of his autobiography.

The book, snappily titled Autobiogrpahy, was released as a Penguin Classic in the UK earlier this year, featuring parts where Morrissey speaks of his relationship with Jake Owen Walters in the mid-1990s.

The book quotes: "Jake and I neither sought not needed company other than our own for the whirlwind stretch to come. Indulgently Jake and I test how far each of us can go before 'being dwelt in' causes cries of intolerable struggle, but our closeness transcends such visitations."

Now, US readers are claiming that the Stateside edition released yesterday (Tuesday 3 December, 2013), many details in the original book have been edited or completely removed, with a photo of Walters as a child also missing.

Contactmusic reports that Walters' name has been cut out of a story about a night out Morrissey had with The Pretenders star Chrissie Hynde.

A spokesman for the publishers is yet to comment.

Though never actually stating if the pair were lovers, or indeed what Morrissey's sexuality is, the former Smiths star later released a statement which read: "Unfortunately, I am not homosexual. In technical fact I am humasexual. I am attracted to humans. But, of course ... not many."
