R Kelly has compared Chris Brown's bounce back from assaulting Rihanna in 2009 to the strength of Martin Luther King, Muhammad Ali and even Jesus.
In an interview with the Guardian, Kelly praised Brown for his successful return to music following the incident.
"He's obviously one strong individual to be able to do what he's done. He got knocked down a little bit and he climbed up," he said. You know, that sounds like Ali to me. That sounds like Martin Luther King to me. That sounds like a lot of the greats that have walked this earth. It even sounds a little bit like Jesus to me.
Perhaps realising what exactly he had just said, Kelly, who himself is a controversial figure thanks to numerous child pornography allegations, quickly added: "I'm not saying that Chris Brown is Jesus or R Kelly is Jesus. But Jesus is the No 1 inspirer of someone being knocked down and rising again."

Kelly, who is promoting his forthcoming album Black Panties, also discussed his recent collaboration with Lady Gaga on her ARTPOP single, 'Do What U Want', describing the similarities between himself and the eccentric singer, calling her an "alien". "I met my match when I met her. She's not afraid to just do themselves and not try to do anyone else," he enthused.
Black Panties, Kelly's twelfth studio album, will be released December 9.
