Tickets for One Direction's 2014 European tour have been revealed as the most wanted gig tickets of the year, beating the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Rolling Stones, Kings Of Leon and many more.
In the end of year results, shared by ticket marketplace Viagogo, the X Factor boyband were revealed as the most searched-for tickets, despite huge competition from some of the biggest names in music, ever. When One Direction announced their 2014 tour, the website registered an enormous half a million searches on its website within 24 hours.
"One Direction’s rise to supergroup status has been well and truly established this year," says Steve Roest, a spokesman for Viagogo. "Their ability to draw higher demand than music industry stalwarts like The Rolling Stones and The Who suggests that it’s the youth that really hold the power.
"With 1D kicking off their Where We Are European tour next April, we can only imagine the infamous boyband will maintain their dominance and ticket demand will continue to rocket into 2014."
