X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger has spoken out in defence of James Arthur, after recent press scrutiny following the use of apparent racial and homophobic slurs.
The X Factor judge, who was once Arthur's mentor on the show, says that she didn't indulge in reading all the hatred towards Arthur. She added that she believes that he truly is a good person despite what may have been said about him in the press and online.
"I'm just there for him," Scherzinger said, "I don't read the press, I know who he is as a person, I know his heart. "I'm just there to support him.
"He's unbelievably talented and he's worked so hard on his album. In the end I know that the cream will always rise to the top."
In recent events Arthur apologised for his use of the homophobic slurs during a live performance on the X Factor. The use of the word in question (and others) followed on from a "rap battle" with Don't Flop MC Micky Worthless, which came to a head with a diss track posted online that alluded to Micky's race and sexuality.
