The Beatles' will release a 59-track collection of bootlegs and rarities on iTunes next week, after copyright issues forced the tracks to be made available.
The album, which will include previous unheard Beatles material including studio outtakes and BBC performances, is said to have been created to avoid a copyright loophole.
Because these recordings have never been released, anyone with access to the tapes could soon legally sell them. This perhaps explains the un-hyped, slightly rushed, release of the collection.
Boris Johnson will be no doubt claim great pride over the band's newest release, as the London Mayor claimed this week that the success of The Beatles was thanks to London, not Liverpool. His comments have largely been dismissed as ridiculous.
