Arcade Fire, M83 among contenders for 2014 Oscar for Best Original Score

Arcade Fire and M83 are among the musicians on the shortlist for the 2014 Oscars, recognised for their work on movie soundtracks over the past year.

Arcade Fire have scored huge success in 2013 with their new album Reflektor, but they also contributed to Spike Jones' movie Red, for which they have been nominated. M83's work on Tom Cruise's Oblivion soundtrack has also been nominated. The shortlist names William Butler and Owen Pallet as composers of the Arcade Fire work, while Anthony Gonzalez and Joseph Trapanese are named for M83.

A massive 114 movie scores have been named on the not-so-short shortlist, with a huge variety of movies, and their soundtracks making the list. Check it out in full below.
