Oh joy, it's yet another award ceremony. This time, the musical Oscars which has just released 75 artist long nominations list - including a high calibre of musician including The XX, Jay Z and Karen O.

The award, part of the world's biggest movie award show The Oscars, celebrates the best original tracks written for movies this year. As for the huge list of nominees, it will be debated upon and whittled down to a smaller shortlist to be released on January 16, 2014 in time for the full ceremony on March 2.

Baz Luhrmann's Great Gatsby (a film that would give an asprin a headache) is the big winner this year, with five songs from the soundtrack eligible for the shortlist. This includes The xx's 'Together', Jay Z's '$100 Bill', Lana Del Rey's 'Young and Beautiful' and Florence and the Machine 'Over the Love'.

As for the rest of the list, Pharell Williams made the cut with 'Happy' from Despicable Me 2, Karen O with 'Moon Song' from Her and M83 for their work on Tom Cruise's ego vehicle Oblivion. However there is no indication as to how long or short the final list will be as last year only Adele's Skyfall and Rick Ross' '100 Black Coffins' made the list.
