Despite the insane level of success of Beyonce's self-titled fifth album, US retail giant Target have suggested that they won't be stocking it.
The album has smashed iTunes records when it was released it via the online music store as a surprise last week, shifting 80,000 copies within three hours of release before going on to sell an incredible 828,773 copies worldwide. The album comes complete with 17 music videos.
Now, Target seem more than a little bit bitter that they didn't have a slice of the action.
"While there are many aspects that contribute to our approach and we have appreciated partnering with Beyoncé in the past, we are primarily focused on offering CDs that will be available in a physical format at the same time as all other formats," said Target spokesperson Erica Julkowski in an interview with Billboard.
"At this time, Target will not be carrying Beyoncé’s new self-titled album Beyoncé."
Queen Bey previously gave Target exclusive early sales of her fourth album, 4 - so it's a shame that they should be so petty now, especially as the CD format is still likely to sell plenty (and plenty more than less popular artists stocked).
