With just one week to go until Christmas, many of you may be growing weary of the same old schmaltzy festive classic. However, there is a dark side. Compiling this list made us realise just how many depressing Christmas songs there are out there. Musicians just love to wallow, particularly when everyone's trying to fill them with  joy and forcing paper hats on their head.

It has to be said, there isn't a worse time for forced fun than Christmas, so how about you pop these on and cleanse yourself of all that compulsory merriment. 

Besides, the fact that the X Factor winner's single has been Christmas number 1 for five of the last eight years is more depressing than all of these songs put together.
