Anonymous sources are reportedly attempting to trash the chances of Lana Del Rey's 'Young and Beautiful' winning the star an Oscar, with a smear campaign launched against the star.
The song, alongside four other tracks taken from the Great Gatsby soundtrack (The XX's 'Together', Florence + the Machine's 'Over the Love', and Fergie, Q-Tip, and GoonRock's 'A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got)'), have had their chances potentially scuppered by anonymous sources.
Deadline writes that members of the Oscars board have recieved anonymous letters that link to a Variety article disputing the release date of the film and subsequently the soundtrack's eligibility for an award. The letter is reportedly accompanied by text saying that as a result 'Young and Beautiful' simply isn't eligible.

However the article has been revealed as bogus, with Billboard writing that this kind of cloak and dagger sabotage has happened before. As a response Warner is producing a featurette highlighting the qualities of 'Young and Beautiful'.
Other nominess for the music award at the Oscars include Arcade Fire, M83, Mike Patton, Cliff Martinez, and more. Pussy Riot also made the short list, meaning if the band are released from jail, as expected, they could attend the March 2 ceremony.
