The US superstar topped the charts with her latest album, which was released unexpectedly on 13 December, 2013. Now, after record breaking sales, it has been revealed that the album is already one of the biggest selling albums in America of the year.
Beyonce sold 617,000 copies of her new album in three days, outselling Kanye West's Yeezus (607,000) and approaching Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines (633,000). The album has been somewhat of a success.
In total, the album has now sold over a million copies on iTunes, and is the fastest selling album ever on the download store. It is currently exclusive to Apple's online music store, although physical copies are expected to be released by Christmas. The record's swift success has also seen Beyonce become the first female singer in history to top the charts with every single one of her first five albums. The release of Beyonce has given the singer her biggest opening week sales ever.
The eponymous record has recieved critical acclaim as well as praise from fans, who dubbed the unconventional release as "game changing", expressing admiration at how the singer kept such a massive body of work under wraps.
