A former inmate at the prison where Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins will spend his jail term has revealed that the shamed rocker will likely be praised for his celebrity status by fellow inmates.
Wrongly imprisoned Michael O'Brien, who spent 11 years behind bars, some of them at the Category A Wakefield prison where Watkins will spend his 35-year sentece, has told Walesonline that fellow inmates will likely idolise his former rock and roll lifestyle.
"Sex offenders will probably think he is God," O’Brien told the publication. "The people on his wing are sex offenders and they will think, 'He's just like me, I have a rock star just like me.'"
"Paedophiles will spend time trying to befriend him and stuff like that," Michael said. "There are some sick people in there."
South Wales police recently revealed they expect to make more arrests in connection to the Ian Watkins sex case, and have revealed the extent of information recovered from the shamed Lostprophets' star's computers.
Detective Chief Inspector Peter Doyle, the senior investigating officer in the case, described the global investigation as "unique", adding officers believe there may be more victims out there, and they will be pursuing "a number of lines of inquiry".
