Rumours that US country legend Dolly Parton is set to join the line-up of Glastonbury 2014 have resurfaced, with tabloid sources claiming she is already making plans to perform on the festival's Pyramid Stage next summer.
Initially reported in October of this year, Parton seemingly became a dead-cert for Glasto after announcing her UK tour dates around the time of next year's Worthy Farm event - with a number of days conspicuously unbooked on Glastonbury weekend. Parton will tour the UK and Europe in June and July 2013 - performing in Cardiff on 24 June 2014, the day before Glastonbury. Her next scheduled date is at London's O2 Arena on 27 June. Glastonbury 2014 starts on 25 June 2014.
Now, an apparent source for Glastonbury has told The Sun newspaper of Parton's performance - and even her travel plans to the event.
"Dolly is perfect for the Sunday Legends slot. It didn't take any convincing - she's always wanted to play Glastonbury," says the source. "It is being kept free deliberately. She'll get a helicopter straight down on Sunday, or maybe even Saturday after the show."

While it's not quite in the same league as having Rolling Stones or Arctic Monkeys confirmed as headliners for this year's Glastonbury, Parton would, we reckon, make an excellent act to perform at next year's Glastonbury. It's easy to dismiss Parton as a cheesy pop novelty, her music more suited to hen nights, but if tracks such as '9 To 5' are good enough for a 2 Many DJs remix treatment, then it's good enough for us.
