Robin Thicke may have made all the headlines (for all the wrong reasons) over the past 12 months, but the ongoing nuisance of Justin Bieber has proved even less popular with Gigwise readers, who have named the star Villain of the Year, 2013.
The Canadian singer topped our end of year poll, narrowly beating the 'Blurred Lines' star into second place. Bieber has had a troubled year to say the least, with his world tour hitting hurdles at every turn.
In 2013 alone, Bieber has been hit with pot-smoking allegations, been sued by an ex-bodyguard for assault, been accused of spitting into a hotel guest's drink, accused of attacking a security guard with a Nerf gun, grabbed a fans' breast during a meet and greet in Florida, been thrown out of a London club, left London fans waiting over two hours at his O2 Arena show, fought with photographers outside his hotel, cancelled gigs, been the target of a deranged prisoner's assassination plot, abandoned his pet monkey in Germany, claimed Anne Frank would have been a 'Belieber', faced speeding charges, been booed at the US Billboard awards, slammed by Deadmau5, walked off stage after being hit in the face with a bottle, stomped on the Argentinian flag and lied to the world by announcing his retirement. Phew.
Robin Thicke on the otherhand, has merely set equal rights back by a decade with his hugely misogynist song lyrics. No comparison.
Third on our villain's list is James Arthur, who had flown under the radar for most of 2013, before posting a homophobic rap track online, putting the X Factor winner back in the headlines - but for all the wrong reasons.
Chris Brown placed fourth on the villain's list and Simon Cowell was voted fifth. The Top Five villains of 2013, as voted for by you, are as below:
1. Justin Bieber
2. Robin Thicke
3. James Arthur
4. Chris Brown
5. Simon Cowell
Bah humbug. Coal for the lot of you.
