U2 are reported to be returning to their 'spiritual home' by releasing their new album on Island Records.
PA reports that the band have penned a deal with the record label who first discovered them in the late 1970s. They left Island Records just over seven years ago when relations went awry after label boss Jason Iley was left for Mercury Records. The band soon followed suit.
Now after a change in management, sources confirm that U2 will rejoin Island Records, saying that the band are “going back to their spiritual home”.
It was recently announced Broadway musical Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark, which Bono and The Edge contributed the music to, is to close. It doesn't look like they'll have too much spare time on their hands to be upset though, as they gear up to release their thirteenth album.
The LP will be their first since 2009's No Line On the Horizon, and it's strongly rumoured they will officially announce details of the record during the SuperBowl's ad breaks in February. It is rumoured for release in April 2014.
