Billboard have confirmed Beyonce's new self titled album has shifted 1.3 million copies in the 17 days since its release.

Its success guarantees the record a third week on the top of the Billboard charts, the first album to do so since Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience achieved the same feat in April 2013. Beyonce is also the fastest selling album by a female artist since Taylor Swift's Red, released in 2012. It's also the first record since 2009 to sell 300,000 copies in three weeks.

Beyonce, described as a "visual album", was dropped unexpectedly with no promotion or announcements on December 13, and sold a massive 828,773 copies in its first weekend.

The record, which features 14 tracks accompanied by 17 music videos, is also iTunes fastest selling album ever, and gave the superstar her biggest ever opening week sales.

The singer was awarded another accolade yesterday (January 2) when it was announced she had the second highest grossing tour of 2013, with her Mrs Carter world tour taking a massive £114.3 million ($188.6 million) in ticket sales.
