Sky Ferreira has spoken out about her often troubled and friction-filled relationship with her record label - adding that she does 'a lot of stuff behind their back'.
Last year, the model turned musician made headlines when she hit out at her record label for not making her debut album Night Time My Time available on vinyl. She slammed Capitol Records for "not being capable of (interested in) what they're supposed to" and said she'd produce the vinyl herself.
In a new and candid interview with The Guardian, the model turned musician also said that they wanted to push her in a much more mainstream and pop direction - even intending to release an entirely different album.
"I do a lot of stuff behind their back," she said. "I have to because nobody ever listens to me! I do have supporters at the label, but I still have to deal with a lot of people who are like: 'Er, I don't want to spend that money on her.'
"I have this reputation from 'insiders' for being difficult, but people only considered me difficult because I wouldn't just agree with everything they said. Like, 50-year-old men telling me how to be a woman! Seriously, I used to get nagged about combing my hair.
Ferreira added: "They would tell me I needed more makeup and that I had circles around my eyes. I've had that since elementary school – I used to get called zombie."

Ferreira also went on to say that she didn't deal with being sexually abused as a childhood until it came to writing her debut LP, Night Time My Time - adding that police were 'useless' in helping her.
"I think I literally just snapped and hit rock bottom," said Ferreira. "I didn't understand it when I was younger, and then it happened again when I was older and that's when I decided to move to New York."
Speaking of her experience of eventually telling the police, she continued: "They blamed it on me for being quiet. They said being quiet made me the target for it. At school there might be an ad that says, like: 'Rape is bad – tell a counsellor', but it doesn't really work like that."
Night Time, My Time by Sky Ferreira is out now in the US, but is yet to receive an official UK release. She is about to embark on a US tour supporting Miley Cyrus, but will return to the UK to perform at Field Day in London on 7-8 June, 2014. For more information, visit Gigwise Gig Tickets.
