Ellie Goulding has topped the UK album chart with her second album Halcyon - 14 months after the album was first released.

Thanks mainly to January's quiet release schedule, Halcyon hit the top spot for the first time, leading sales by 5,000 over the rest of the market. Upon its release in October 2012, Halcyon reached the No.2 position, but massive singles 'Burn' and 'Anything Could Happen' have secured a surge in its popularity. Goulding's previous album, her debut Lights, reached the top spot in 2010. Halcyon was re-released in 2013 as Halcyon Days, including the No.1 single 'Burn' and new single, 'Goodness Gracious'.

On the singles chart, Pitbull and Ke$ha have scored the first No.1 single of 2014 and knocked Pharrell from the top spot, with their collaboration 'Timber'.

The former NERD frontman, and Daft Punk and Robin Thicke collaborator, spent just one week at the top of the UK charts after taking the place from 2013 X Factor winner Sam Bailey one week ago. Pitbull and Ke$ha sold an impressive 139,000 copies of their single, in what is traditionally a quiet week for music sales following the Christmas period.

The new chart topper will come as good news for 'Tik Tok' singer Ke$ha, who this week checked into a rehab facility to seek treatment for an eating disorder.
