Madonna has been criticised for posting a photo of her 13 year old son posing with a bottle of alcohol.
The offending image, posted on the star's Instagram, shows 13 year old Rocco holding bottles of vodka and gin with two friends, captioned "The party has just begun! Bring it! 2014!". Madonna and her family are currently on holiday in Gstaad, Switzerland, where the legal drinking age is 16.
However, a barrage of angry commenters criticised Madonna for the image, with some dubbing it an "extremely irresponsible" move, with one user writing: "I work in addictions and see tragedy daily. I care enough about even Madonna's child to speak my view that it is poor judgment to glorify substances to children.''
Madonna herself was forced to respond to the critics, saying: ''No one was drinking we were just having fun! Calm down and get a sense of humor! Don't start the year off with judgement!".
Many of the singer's fans also defended the photograph. "I don't see them drinking, I see them holding bottles. Chill, people. Madonna be a strict ma..." one user wrote.
