Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has confirmed he will take part in an upcoming charity event called A Night Of A Thousand Vaginas.

The Los Angeles event is taking place on 19 January and has been arranged by 'reproductive rights' group A Is For. A Night Of A Thousand Vaginas will raise money for the Texas Abortion Fund.

Also involved are US comedy stars Sarah Silverman, Zach Galifianakis, Steve Agee, Jen Kirkman and Tiffany Haddish. The night will be hosted by Parks & Recreation star Retta, who plays Donna in the Amy Poehler show. It is uncertain what part Homme will play in the event, which will take place at the Largo comedy theatre in LA.

Organisation A Is For fights for reproductive rights, and is active in campaigning to keep abortion legal in America.

Homme will be taking time out from the studio to take part, having recently revealed that work was underway on the next Queens Of The Stone Age album, and that it could be ready before the end of 2014.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone magazine, when asked if the band were ready to make another album soon, Homme replied: "Absolutely. We have more than enough songs. We're booked til September, but after that we plan to jump in the studio and get going."

He continued: "When it's time to make music, that's about getting lost for me. To be a control freak is not half as good as being a freak who's casually in control. You're feeling around in the dark for something that feels good. As long as you're not in an orgy, that can be an amazing moment."
