Rapper Le1f has embarked on a Twitter rant after a user suggested he is "transphobic".
The New York rapper, who is openly gay, hit out after Twitter user @_Val10 said: "All I think when I hear of Le1f is transphobia lmao." Le1f then wrote a series of tweets in which he said he was "offended" by the accusation, fuming: "I should've just stayed in the closet & just been actually sexist and homophobic."

just because i don't want to be called trans by homophobic people doesn't make me transphobic.

i've seen some friends become themselves, & become more beautiful people through their transitions & i support them totally, as they do me.

let me set all y'all straight– 1. i'm not transphobic, 2. macklemore used to follow me on instagram & knows of me thru Das Racist ...

and 3. i'm not from Harlem or Brooklyn. i'm from midtown Manhattan. and yes, it's still the hood over here.

and yes i mention my friends, cuz you know what i value more than anyone's race, gender, or sexuality? my fuckin friendships. not ur tweets.

honestly, nothing sets me off like being called transphobic. more so than being constantly gaybashed as 'trans'. it's all very sad, tbh.

i should've stayed in the closet & just been actually sexist and homophobic. then i'd be on the radio, and you guys would sing along anyway.

The rapper also claimed Macklemore knows of him and follows him on Instagram. Le1f has critcised Macklemore frequently since the release of breakthrough hit 'Thrift Shop', which is similar in style to Le1f's track 'Wut', which came out a month before 'Thrift Shop' in July 2012. The two tracks share the same horn-orientated hook.

Le1f then criticised Macklemore further for his success with the gay rights anthem 'Same Love'. "Gay people don't care about your video about gay people," he stormed at the time.
