Tom Morello has revealed plans to record his first solo guitar record after he wraps up touring alongside Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

The Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave guitarist told Billboard that he's in the "midst of making my first big solo rock record", his first after four releases as folk project The Nightwatchman.

Morello, 49, is currently on tour with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, and says playing with The Boss has inspired him to make the "craziest guitar record that anyone's ever heard. The idea is that this is the Hendrix of now." Morello also revealed he already has a "big batch of songs written".

Morello is set to feature on Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's upcoming fourteenth album, High Hopes, which is set for release later this month.
