The new online streaming music service Beats Music is set to launch on 21 January.
The site has been created by Beats Electronic, a company founded by rapper and hip hop producer Dr Dre along with Jimmy Lovine, and hopes to rival Spotify in the music streaming market.
Backed by music stars such as Trent Reznor, as well as billionaires Len Blavatnik and James Packer, the service will offer no free option to its customers. "We think you should pay for music," said chief executive Ian Rogers.
The company tweeted on Saturday saying that the launch would mark "the beginning of the future." Something of an overstatement perhaps.

The launch of Beats Music comes as US digital music sales continue to encounter problems - sales declined in 2013 for the first time since the launch of Apple's iTunes store a decade ago.
The service will offer a catalogue of over 20 million songs, and will be available in the UK shortly after it debuts in the US.
