Indie star, Blur bassist, farmer and cheese-making extraordinaire Alex James is planning to launch a new drink called 'Britpop'. Yes, really.

James, bassist with indie giants Blur who makes his own range of cheeses on his farm, has filed a trademark application for a drink called 'Britpop', according to City AM

The application was submitted to the UK's Intellectual Property Office in 2013, and would cover everything from 'beverages enriched with added minerals' to 'low alcohol beer' and 'alcopops'. If successful, then James will have exclusive rights to use the word 'Britpop' on soft drinks and alcoholic products for the next ten years.

That would make him pretty big on the pop scene, eh?

He already owns trademarks to a series of cheeses, including 'Blue Monday' - inspired by the New Order classic.
