Glastonbury festival has announced the return of its Emerging Talent competition for 2014.
The yearly contest sees unsigned bands compete for the oppurtunity to perform sets at this years festival with previous winners including the likes of Scouting for Girls (Hmmmm) and The Subways. Last year's winners Bridie Jackson and the Arbour ended up playing five Worthy Farm sets over the course of the festival. Terms and conditions stipulate that entrants must be residents of the UK and Ireland and not be signed to a major label.
Contestants must upload an original to track to their Soundcloud in order to supply the link, they must also submit a video of themselves performing (although it is stressed it doesn't have to be high budget). Then the contestants will be whittled down to eight who will battle it out in a battle of the bands style event where 120 top music bloggers will pick the winner. New bands can submit their applications and find more info here.

"We get very excited about new music, and the Emerging Talent Competition is just a brilliant way for us to discover fresh talent," says Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis. "Our stage bookers come down to the live finals, and dozens of the acts who've entered over the years have been given a slot at the Festival. We can't wait to see what this year's competition brings!"
Glastonbury festival is currently sold out with re-sales expected in Spring and a huge amount of speculation growing as to the identities of the remaining headliners. So far Arcade Fire have been confirmed with rumours of Foo Fighters, Daft Punk, Outkast and many more.
