Kanye West is suing online currency Coinye West, alleging that the brand infringes his copyright.
The lawsuit targets all websites involved in the distribution of the crypto-currency, including Amazon, 0dayscoins.com, coinye-exchange.com and newchg.com. There is one hinderance to Kanye's pursual of reparations for the alleged intellectual property theft - he doesn't actually know who is behind it.
"Defendants have willfully and admittedly traded upon the goodwill and notoriety of Kanye West, one of the most famous entertainers and brand names in the world," reads the lawsuit filed in Manhattan. "In interviews with the press, defendants brazenly admit that they adopted the marks COINYE WEST, COINYE and COYE to directly associate their newly minted crypto-currency with Mr. West."
Clearly this has had an effect on the creators of the coin as the Coinye website has now been shut down displaying a message admitting defeat, saying: "You win Kanye, Coinye is dead. Pool's Closed." The message was posted shortly after the lawsuit was filed, clearly having more effect on the company than the cease and desist letter sent by Kanye in January.
Meanwhile West may be embroiled in yet another lawsuit, after he was embroiled in an alleged physical attack on a member of the public after they verbally abused Kim Kardashian. The man is said to have yelled at her: "Fuck you bitch. Just trying to help you. Shut up n**ger lover, stupid slut."
Kardashian is said to have then called West to the scene, where he punched the man and began a brawl, which was broken up by staff at the chiropractor's office. The 18-year-old is believed to be pressing charges and West was identified by both him and nearby witnesses.
