Irish rock legends U2 are understandably thrilled with their Oscar nomination for their song, 'Ordinary Love', taken from the movie Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom.
The band are up against the likes of Karen O from Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Pharrell Williams to take the Best Original Song award, and have since issued a statement speaking of their thrill at the nomination, the second of their career.
"We are humbled and honored that 'Ordinary Love' has been nominated for an Oscar," say the band. "It was a privilege to be asked to write a song for this extraordinary film, Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, and to help tell this extraordinary love story.
"We have been working for this great man since we were teenagers and for our song to be recognized in this way by the Academy is beyond our wildest teenage dreams."

Karen O, on the otherhand is equally excited and horrified at her nomination - and has spoken of her fear of public speaking, should she win the award. "To say this was unexpected is an understatement...", Karen told Rolling Stone. "The song was 10 years in the making according to Spike and testament to a beautiful friendship and creative chemistry we've shared over the years...
"Thanks Spike for making my very real phobia of ever having to be in a position to give an acceptance speech at a major award show a reality."
