Kasabian have revealed more details on their forthcoming album and say that it's a 'real f**ck you' to anyone who dares criticise the band.
The new album - which is currently untitled, is set to be released later on this year and band members Serge Pizzorno and Tom Meighan have spoken about the influences in writing the record and what it means to them in a recent interview with NME. In particular they expressed how many of the songs on the record will be directed towards any critics of the band.
Meighan explains: "The album is a real 'fuck you' to anyone who ever dares criticise or snarl at us, and say we can't do music like this. It's a real fucking 'up yours'. There are a lot of bands who try and do this kind of music but fail because they've got no songs."
He also described the process of building a Kasabian song, saying it's like taking a demo and mutating it with rocket fuel and liquid nitrogen. "It's a dangerous, dangerous, dangerous drug we've created. I can't get my head around it. It's rock 'n' roll, it's got the rawness and it's edgy, but it's gone back to electronics and we've gone beyond leftfield."
Kasabian say the new album is beyond anything they've done before
Once the album is released, the band plans to hit the road immediately, with Meighan saying, "We've gone hard, but this is beyond hard. This is hardcore. We want to put it out there and let people stew on it. Let them worry about it. Then tour the motherfucking hell out of it."
It was revealed earlier this week that a track off the record, 'Ezz Ehh' contains lyrical reference to the horse meat scandal of last year and has a comical vibe about it. Kasabian are also tipped to be Glastonbury headliners this year, though neither the band or Festival have confirmed the rumours.
