It's a well known fact that, since breaking America, One Direction are basically The Beatles. When their first album topped the US albums chart in its first week, they were the first UK act to achieve this feat, ever. Try not to get too upset though, it's not just manufactured talent show bands that have made it big in America recently.

There's acts such as Adele, Mumford & Sons and Ellie Goulding, who we all knew were huge... and there's also a few the US has taken under its wing that may surprise you - Chvrches and The 1975 for example.
