It has been confirmed that U2's new track 'Invisible' will be aired for the first time during the 2014 Super Bowl, in a commercial part funded by the Bank of America.

The track is taken from their as yet untitled 13th album in a commercial in collaboration between the Bank of America and Bono's charitable Red organisation. After it airs it will be released on iTunes and fans will have a total of 24 hours to download it. The American bank has pledged a total of $2m (£1.2m) to the Global Fund to Fight Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria - allotting $1 (£0.60) to the cause for every download.

"[This is] the kind of game-changing influence that will not just deliver millions of dollars but raise consciousness and keep public pressure on putting an end to this devastating pandemic," Bono said in a statement.

According to the attached press release, the Gates Foundation, SAP and South Africa's Motsepe mining clan have also donated, adding to the Bank of America's financial commitment "for a total of $22m". "Incredible," the singer said

However concerns have been raised by the Guardian highlighting the fact that the Bank of America's pledge of $2m actually pales in comparison to the fee required to advertise during the Superbowl. Channels are charging $4m (£2.4) for each 30-second commercial. Although the 120m viewers and potential donors that it will reach will hopefully counteract this issue.

Meanwhile the Irish rock giants are the first musical guests on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show. Famous American comedian Fallon will be taking over the Tonight Show on February 17 and it looks like he is aiming to make an impression by booking U2 for a performance that is also rumoured to see them unveil new material.
