Dan Smith of Bastille has begun to discuss how the follow up to Bad Blood is being written, citing the influence of 'R&B and electronic music' on the new album.
Bastille are currently enjoying US success, with single 'Pompeii' hitting the US Top Ten, but they also seem to have found time to begin work on their second album.
In an interview with the Guardian, Dan Smith says: "All our heads are in the next album," also revealing he began working on five new tracks over the Christmas break.
He also speaks of the direction in which the album might be headed, stating that he headed back to the bedroom to write on his own - the same way that the debut was penned. As for the influences, Smith remains aloof in the interview but does mention that the band have been listening to a lot of "R&B and electronic music". Cheekily at the end he also adds: "I want to defy expectations," indicating that the new material clearly could head in any direction.

The frontman also spoke of the huge amount of collaborations and songwriting that is currently going on behind the scenes. He has just finished a track for Sam Smith's debut album, is working with the hotly tipped MNEK and has been recording with Angel Haze for the follow up. He also rather hilariously, nearly sold a song to David Guetta.
