Arctic Monkeys beat David Bowie to take top prize at the Sky Arts Awards

Arctic Monkeys have added another notch to their belt, having beaten David Bowie to win the music prize at this years South Bank Sky Arts Awards.

The Sheffield band beat the music legends to the event's music prize, while the night also honoured artist Tracey Emin, awarding her an Outstanding Achievement Award. Comedian Frank Skinner presented Emin with her trophy. Clio Barnard's movie The Selfish Giant won in the film category, beating Steve Coogan and Judi Dench's Philomena to take the award, while National Theatre Of Scotland's Let The Right One In took the theatre award.

Life After Life by Kate Atkinson won the literature award and ITV drama Broadchuch won best TV drama.

Arctic Monkeys have this week announced details of a massive gig in Dublin's Marlay Park. Dates and ticket details are below.

Following on from the announcement of their huge Finsbury Park shows in London, Alex Turner and co will now also be playing a special gig for their Irish fans on Saturday 12 July, 2014.

The impressive bill comes with support from Jake Bugg, Miles Kane and Royal Blood.
