As well as winning Album of the Year and Record of the Year at Sunday night's (26 January) Grammys, Daft Punk also teamed up with Stevie Wonder, Nile Rodgers and Pharrell for their first live television performance in six years. Now a series of behind the scenes photographs have been put online that show the building of the performance's set.

The stage was built to resemble a recording studio - where, part way through the performance, Daft Punk themselves were revealed in the sound booth, to a multi-coloured light fanfare.

Visual effects artist Jim Lo Giudice has posted photographs of the set's creation on his tumblr. Tino Schaedler and Optimist Design teamed up with Daft Arts to create the design. Check out the photos below.

Beneath the series of photos, Lo Giudice explains that "The recording booth is patterned after the 'Mother' space craft control room from the movie Alien. The robots gold mirror mixing console actually worked and was played live."

No explanation of which extra-terrestrial movie Pharrell's hat was based on though.
