Surviving Beatles performed 'Hey Jude' together

Last night (Monday 27 January) Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr reunuited once again for The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute To The Beatles.

The Grammy Awards produced show was a salute to the iconic brit band, marking the 50th anniversary of when they played the Ed Sullivan show. Broadcast on CBS the event featured a huge ensemble of musicians including John Mayer, Keith Urban, Stevie Wonder and the Eurythmics, all performing covers of Beatles tracks. In between performances archive footage of the band in their prime was shown. 

Most importantly however, the event at the Staples Center in Los Angeles saw Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney reuniting once again to perform 'Hey Jude' and 'With A Little Help From My Friends'.

“At first when asked, I wondered whether it was the right thing to do,” McCartney during the show, saying that he asked a few American friends for their opinion on the matter. “They said you don't understand the importance of the 'Ed Sullivan Show' on America. And I didn't understand until then.”

Presenters on the night included Sean Penn, Jeff Bridges, Eric Idle and Johnny Depp; the audience included Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon, Olivia Harrison, Tom Hanks and John Paul White. The night also saw the Eurythmics reunite for a special one off performance.
