Following her double Grammys' win at the weekend, Lorde returned to her homeland of New Zealand to a heroes' welcome - from the paparazzi at least, and the singer revealed she was nearly injured by the waiting photographers.
The 'Royals' star picked up awards in the Song Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance categories, and was mobbed after touching down in NZ. Taking to Twitter to discuss her treatment by the media, she revealed she no longer feels 'safe' in her homeland. The tweets have since been deleted.
"I know that success comes with a price tag. it just sucks when you see that in your tiny home country where you previously felt safe," she wrote. "There is a difference between attn from fans, which I love, and the constant, often lecherous gaze that I'm subjected to in this industry."
"I understand that people of note are supposedly fair game for everyone to photograph and film but that doesn't make it acceptable," she added.
"NZ media almost pushed over myself and my family at the airport this morning in order to get their shots, bit of a sad welcome if i'm honest."

In her acceptance speech for Song Of The Year, she took the time to thank the song's co-writer and producer, Joel Little.
"I probably wouldn't be here if Joel wasn't here, this guy nurtured me through my first years of songwriting which I will forever owe him," Lorde said.
Then, in her acceptance speech for Best Solo Vocal Pop Performance, Lorde paid tribute to her fellow nominees.
Mostly, to Bruno, to Sarah, to Katy, to Justin - I have been so inspired by all of your vocal work at some point in my life so thank you."
