January, what a month. Boozeless, funless - and for the most part, newsless. Award season got back into gear after a Christmas hiatus with the Grammy Awards, we got an early scandal with Justin Bieber's arrest and the festival line-ups piled in thick and fast.

Musically it's been good as well with new band Broods tearing up the electro pop book with their slef-titled EP, the return of Foster the People, Bombay Bicycle Club and legend in the making MØ. It's been interesting but we are glad it's over, roll on summer and festival season.

Here are the 12 lessons we learned about music in January 2014.
