The long-awaited biopic movie about the life of Jimi Hendrix starring Andre 3000 will receive its premiere at SXSW festival in March.
All Is By My Side was directed by John Ridley and stars Outkast star Andre 3000 in the lead. The movie has received mixed reviews from the critics who have seen it so far, and hit another snag when the iconic guitarist's ex-girlfriend slammed the film, claiming the costumes used in the movie look like something out of Austin Powers.
Kathy Etchingham, played by Hayley Atwell in the film, reportedly requested corrections be made to the movie and was rejected as a consultant on the movie when she approached the studio.

"I wrote them an email when I first heard about it [the film] saying, 'If you want any help don't hesitate to contact me'. They didn't reply," Etchingham told the Sunday Express newspaper. "[The film's costumes have] Austin Powers written all over [them]; I would not be seen dead in anything like that... Andre and Hayley are much older than Jimi and I were, and it shows... A lot of people will go and see it who have never read any of the biographies and they will think it's the gospel truth. I don't want it [the film] to fundamentally change history."

As well as playing host to gigs by thousands of upcoming and established acts, South By South West in Austin, Texas will also see a premiere of SVDDXNLY (a documentary about A$AP Rocky and the A$AP Mob), Leave the World Behind (a film about the decline of EDM as a genre), Florian Habicht's Sheffield: Sex City (a film about Pulp's relationship to their hometown) and many, many more.
SXSW will run from 11-16 March in 2014. It is an urban festival held as as industry showcase as well as for fans. Every year hundreds of hopeful bands go across from these shores looking to be picked up by an industry hungry for new talent.
