Angel Haze has joined the legions upon legions of hip-hop fans who have said that Kendrick Lamar should have won the Grammy Award for best hip-hop album.

At the Grammy awards on Sunday (26 January) perhaps the most controversial moment came when Macklemore took home best hip-hop album instead of Kendrick Lamar. This is a decision that has now been critisized by many hip hop artists, unhappy with the decision. This fact was even acknowledged by Macklemore who instagrammed his apology text to Kendrick. Now, during a recent UK visit, Haze has shared her own opinions on the matter.

"If we're speaking strictly down to who had the best rap album, it's definitely Kendrick, definitely," she told the NME. "I think that Kendrick Lamar made a solid, actual rap album... I laid off listening to it for so long because there was so much hype around it, then I listened to it and I still play it to this day.

"It's an amazing album and I for sure thought that since as he was up for four Grammys he would obviously win Best Rap Album, but then Macklemore, I've followed his journey, I know his story and I know his music well and I've been a diehard fan of his since I was about 17. It's hard to say it, but I do feel like Kendrick deserved the Best Rap Album."

In response to losing out on the award Lamar proved himself to be the legend that he is, ignoring the opinions of the rap community and saying that Macklemore's win was "well deserved".

"It's well deserved; he did what he did, man," said Kendrick demonstrating humility. "He went out there and hustled and grinded. Everything happens for a reason; the universe comes back around, that's how it go."
