This week marks the 45th anniversary of The Beatles' last ever public performance. Watch footage from the legendary rooftop gig below.
On 30 January 1969, the band decided to take to the roof of their label's Apple HQ on Savile Row in London during the making of their final album, Let It Be.
It was a monumental event, seeing as the band officially stopped touring in 1966. However, that didn't stop the Metropolitan Police shutting the event down due to the understandably massive attention it was attracting after news of the impromptu gig spread through the streets of London.
In the book The Beatles Anthology, guitarist George Harrison explained: "We went on the roof in order to resolve the live concert idea, because it was much simpler than going anywhere else; also nobody had ever done that, so it would be interesting to see what happened when we started playing up there."
The show was also where John Lennon parted with the legendary line: "I’d like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves, and I hope we passed the audition."
