Prince has declared that he's planning for tickets to his upcoming London shows this month to be cheap for fans, stating that they'll be around '$10 a ticket' (that's about £6).

The Purple One was speaking at an intimate press conference in the flat of Lianne LaHavas yesterday (Tuesday 4 February), before he played a surprise 'open soundcheck' press gig at Camden's Electric Ballroom.

The BBC reports that His Royal Badness told the press conference that the shows with his new band, 3rdEyeGirl, would be cheap for fans.

"We want to charge about $10 a ticket," he said. "This is a new band, people are getting something new."

He also said that he wouldn't be playing in huge venues like the O2 as he did with his residency back in 2007.

"That was a different time, this is a different band," said Prince, adding that they would "work our way up, if people like us, to bigger venues".

He continued: "We're going to be here until people don't want to hear us anymore."

When quizzed about Glastonbury rumours, the 'Kiss' star replied "Do you want me to play there tomorrow?" before "concentrating on these shows in London, I don't know what's happening after". When asked if that was a 'no' to playing Glasto, Prince replied "No!"

Prince also said that he would be recording all of the London shows, and while an announcement of specific gigs is yet to be made, he said was looking to play 'iconic' venues like Ronnie Scott's, the Bag O'Nails Club and the Electric Ballroom in London - as he did last night and will do again tonight.
