After Twitter lit up with the news that Pet Shop Boys frontman Neil Tennant was apparently in hospital critically injured, a spokesperson for the musician has confirmed that the rumours are "completely untrue."
It's unclear where the hoax originated, but last night Pet Shop Boys fans took to twitter to express their concerns at the rumours, with some news outlets even reporting Tennant's "hospitalisation."
#petshopboys lovely Neil Tennant critically ill in hospital following heart failure. Is this true? Awful.

I really hope it's not true. But get well soon Neil Tennant!

Inevitably, the lie became even more exaggerated as the evening progressed, as Tennant was gradually killed off.
What's all this crap going about Neil Tennant? Just read online that he's died in a car accident!

Luckily for Pet Shop Boys fans, and indeed Neil Tennant himself, the rumours are completely untrue.
Pet Shop Boys released their 12th studio album 'Electric' in July last year to critical acclaim, and it reached No.3 in the UK albums chart.
