Queen's Greatest Hits album is the biggest selling album in UK music history, shifting 6 million copies to take the title.
New figures from The Official Charts company has revealed that one in four households in the UK owns a copy of the band's 1981 release, and the record is the first to sell in such huge numbers. It is the biggest selling UK album of all time. Its closest rival is ABBA's Gold - Greatest Hits, which has sold 5.1m, joint second with The Beatles' iconic Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Adele's 21 is No.4 and Oasis' What's The Story (Morning Glory) is the fifth biggest seller of all time.
Band member Brian May described the sales figures as 'incredible', saying in a statement: "I just want to say thanks to everyone who has supported us through the years, we hope to continue to serve you."
