U2 have been confirmed to perform at the 86th Academy Awards Oscars ceremony next month.
Bono and co will be playing 'Ordinary Love' taken from the soundtrack to the film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. Not only that, but the track itself is up for Best Original Song alongside Pharrell Williams's 'Happy' from Despicable Me 2), 'Let It Go' from Frozen by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez and 'The Moon Song' by Karen O from Her.
Pharrell and Idina Menzel are also confirmed to perform at the ceremony, which will be hosted by Ellen DeGeneres at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on 2 March, 2014.
"We are humbled and honored that 'Ordinary Love' has been nominated for an Oscar," say the band. "It was a privilege to be asked to write a song for this extraordinary film, Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, and to help tell this extraordinary love story.
"We have been working for this great man since we were teenagers and for our song to be recognized in this way by the Academy is beyond our wildest teenage dreams."

Karen O, on the otherhand is equally excited and horrified at her nomination - and has spoken of her fear of public speaking, should she win the award. "To say this was unexpected is an understatement...", Karen told Rolling Stone. "The song was 10 years in the making according to Spike and testament to a beautiful friendship and creative chemistry we've shared over the years...
"Thanks Spike for making my very real phobia of ever having to be in a position to give an acceptance speech at a major award show a reality."
