It looks like Lil Wayne's new material is on the way after label-mate Drake announced his new album is due for release in May.
The rapper will be returning with album 'Tha Carter V', the fifth in his 'Tha Carter' series of albums, the last of which dropped in 2011 and landed at No. 8 in the UK charts. Label bosses have previously remained tight lipped about the albums release date, with Young Money co-owner Mel Smith telling a college newspaper they were "very close to dropping the album".
However the news was revealed by Drake at a gig in new Orleans on Friday 14 February, after he asked the crowd "do you want to hear Young Money at its best?". He proceeded then to tell the crowd at the House of Blues venue that Wayne's album would be released on 15 May.

It was also recently announced that Drake, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne are set to appear on a new compilation showcasing Young Money's (YMCMB) roster of artists. Young Money: Rise of an Empire is set for a March release date, and will feature the aforementioned Young Money kingpins as well of a roster of new artists. The album will feature new tracks from Lil Wayne, as well as Drake's previously aired cut 'Trophies', which didn't make Nothing Was The Same.
"This release will showcase the Platinum-selling artists you know and love, such as Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Drake and Tyga, as well as celebrate our up and coming artists who will surely become your new favorites," Young Money artist Birdman told Vibe. "This album is an excellent family effort and will be alighting radio airwaves across the globe!"
