Ellie Goulding has revealed she has no expectations of winning anything at tonight's BRIT Awards in London, claiming she is a 'professional' when it comes to dealing with award show failure.
The Halcyon star, who is the favourite to take the Best Female award at tonight's show at the O2 Arena, London, is also nominated for Best Single and Best Video at the 2014 music awards. However, despite performing at the show tonight (19 February, 2014), she is preparing herself to go home empty handed.
"I'm definitely a professional at dealing with not winning," she tells The Sun newspaper. "I've been to a lot of awards now where I haven't won. Who knows if I'll win at the Brits. Fingers crossed, but if I don't I won't be surprised. I have learnt not to get my hopes up."
Goulding has enjoyed a hugely successful year, having scored No.1s with her single 'Burn' and album Halcyon, but despite the huge sales and critical acclaim, says that her appearance at the show will be a test of her nerve.
"I've wanted so badly to perform at the Brits so I'm just gonna embrace it and enjoy it," she adds. "It's going to be nerve-racking but I'm just going to give it my everything."
"It's been fun to plan the performance and it's been fun to go a bit further and push it a little bit."
